Is it possible that the popular beer maker Heineken sponsored a dog fighting event in Mongolia?

A firestorm is brewing after news broke of a dog fighting ring potentially being supported by Heineken. The company denies having anything to do with the dog fights and says they were supporting an event held within the club the prior night and that the club’s owner neglected to remove their marketing from the club.

In this picture is a dog fighting ring within the property of a club in Mongolia. You can clearly see the Heineken marketing on the area immediately surrounding the ring.

Even though the company launched an investigation immediately after hearing and severed ties with the night club, some people still wonder whether Heineken knew about the dog fighting anyway. As quoted in the dailymail.co.uk, “Heineken has run into trouble in the past after it was revealed their Spanish Central Cervejas brand was advertised at bullrings in Spain.” so there is definitely some speculation as to the consistency of these types of “mishaps”.

While we here at TheBullyBreedBlog.com will take their word for it, we will keep a sharp eye on the beer maker. We also won’t neglect to mention how sick we believe these people must be to just stand there and watch as if this bloodsport is some sort of entertainment to watch 2 dogs kill each other. It is barbaric and speaks volumes of the crude nature of their culture.

Do you think that Heineken is telling the truth about having nothing to do with this dog fighting ring?

Thinking like my dog is an on going process that I continue to work on.

I want to think like my dog, not in the sense of his personal perspective but because I want to better understand how he perceives the world around him. Thinking like my dog isn’t easy and can sometimes feel frustrating but I make sure to keep my wits and stay steady, for Lincoln my Pit Bull‘s sake.

Here is a great book I have read on the subject that you might find helpful.
How Dogs Think: What the World Looks Like to Them and Why They Act the Way They Do

Thinking like my dog will help me;

Better connect with him when training.

Understand how to manipulate and mold his actions to become a well-behaved member of society.

Give more people reasons to own a PitBull when they see how well behaved Lincoln is.

Raise a well adjusted pup who doesn’t become overly anxious and stressed out.

It will also help me to understand what I, and others around us, are doing and how that influences the reactions made by my dog.

Thinking like my dog isn’t some type of topic one can study and understand perfectly at the absolute peak of possible knowledge.

…It is more of an on-going process that never ends, like becoming a better person. I almost made the mistake of believing I had everything down to a science. At a critical moment I almost made a big mistake and though it was narrowly averted I realized I still had a lot of learning to do.

I speak to trainers and behavior-shaping professionals as well as Veterinarians about thinking like my dog. I also read all the literature I can on the subject, like this information from Wikipedia. But again, nobody has the everlasting fountain of knowledge. What we can have are well-rounded perspectives supported by a wealth of information and experience.

There are always new situations and scenarios that will test your and my ability to think like my dog. It is a long process and I hope you stay with us to see how things go. I hope I can help you to grow and better understand your dog just as I do mine. I thank you for your patronage and can’t wait to see you again!
Lincoln’s Daily Diary

Today Lincoln the Pit Bull got to play with his best-pup-buddy Coco over at Dad’s place while I worked.
They spent their time running around with Lincoln doing all the chasing of course. He goes outside even with Dad off the leash and has been great with staying close by.

I am hoping that my dog will stay by my side if I ever decided to let him off-leash somewhere. Done correctly the behavior will stick. We even practice Lincoln staying by my side using a 30 foot lead sometimes.

Right now the pup is tired from a long and fun day but when he gets up we will do some more clicker training after a potty break! We are beginning to work on ‘Stay’ while we reinforce his ‘Come’ which is getting better but still needs work.

How I am teaching my dog to stay by my side;

I use a long 30foot leash to give Lincoln the freedom to go where he wants, we usually practice on the beach.

I just call Lincoln when he is wandering or running around and wait for him to actually look at me.

Once my dog looks at me, I then give him the command to “come”.

When he comes I click and treat using the clicker.

Also whenever he happens to wander off and then come back to my side, I also click and treat to teach him that being by my side is where the good stuff happens!

Lincoln’s Daily Diary, Christmas Day Entry

Daddy got a camcorder for Christmas!…so we are starting to take videos to upload for you guys. We are very excited to show you how to train your dog the way we train Lincoln the PitBull as well as making a little story-line for his upbringing!
I went to breakfast and then Dad and I took Lincoln and Coco, Dad’s Pomeranian a couple blocks East to the beach and the pup loved it! He ran around chasing Coco and getting all full of sand for a good half hour.
I had a family dinner again tonight but decided to leave the pup home because my other aunt also has 2 male Yorkies but one of them is not the nicest dog and I didn’t want Lincoln to be spending too much time around territorial dogs and learning not nice things! I ate and came home to make a clicker training movie, our first one PitBull clicker training.
We are going to show everyone exactly how to use the clicker, why it works and how you can use it to train your dog to do anything you want!!!

It was Pit Bull vs Yorkie (or YorkieS) on Christmas Eve at my Aunt’s house for the family dinner. Lincoln was well behaved and submissive to the smaller Yorkies who were intent on giving Lincoln a rough welcome!

Lincoln’s Daily Diary December 24, 2011 – Christmas Eve

Don’t forget to sign up for our Newsletter in the top-right column of the page!
Its Christmaaasss (Eve)!

This morning after daddy got breakfast we went outside and Lincoln made his first ever trip around the entire block!!! He walked briskly and stayed right at my side step for step!! We even made a short “Pit-stop” for him to check out the steps to an apartment building where he ran to the top and came back down. After a strange doggy in the window barked it was time for Lincoln to go! He would soon enough get to play with some other strange pups and find himself in a Pit Bull vs Yorkie “welcome wrestling match”.

We made it home and Lincoln the Pit Bull got his first taste of Christmas; a big beef bone!!!! Of course I made him do a “come/sit” before I gave it to him but he is enjoying it as I type this. He is definitely going to be at it for a while as daddy has fun watching the Giants/Jets football game!
Its a big day for Lincoln because we are going to the family Christmas Eve dinner tonight where he will surely relish the spotlight! My aunt was at first a bit apprehensive about having a Pit Bull at her house but once I told her the truth about Pit Bull Myths she was happy to have Lincoln over as a guest.

So the Pit Bull vs Yorkie episode ensued as soon as we came in the door, as expected.

So Lincoln had his hands full tonight as he met a lot of people and was very excited and well-behaved. My aunt has 2 Yorkie male dogs, one of which was being very dominant and constantly humping Lincoln who was very good about it. The other dog was a bit of the ‘hit and run’ type and was nipping at Lincoln constantly. Lincoln grew more comfortable after a couple minutes and began to play back and the 3 pups rough-housed for a while. Of course Lincoln the Pit Bull was the well-mannered dog and the Yorkies were the aggressors on their own territory but it went well. Lincoln stood his own ground in the 2 on 1 and they ran around and played a ton. When things calmed down Lincoln eventually began cuddlign up on the couch with my younger cousins and a few of my uncles who thought he was the coolest thing since sliced bread! By the time the night was over the Pit Bull vs Yorkie match ended and the Yorkies were running from Lincoln the persistent pup whenever he came into sight!

We went home and passed out after a great Christmas Eve dinner. Lincoln got to meet his whole family and enjoyed some innocent Pit Bull vs Yorkie x2 roughhousing.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING! A HUGE WIN FOR THE PIT BULL AND BULLY BREED COMMUNITY!

A couple months ago we wrote an article about the HB 14 Pit Bull Ban proposal to drop the “vicious dog” classification automatically given to Pit Bull and Bully Breed dogs in Ohio. At the time Ohio was the only state in America with statewide breed-specific-legislation targeting any specific breed of dog. Originally enacted in 1987 the bill spent 25 years on the books and had been lobbied against heavily by trainers, Pit Bull owners, advocates and non-fear-reactive folks.

The Ohio House of Representatives voted a lopsided 67-30 margin to drop the current classification and do away with the Ohio Pit Bull Ban. The bill will now sit on Ohio Governor John Kasich’s desk for approval or a possible veto but it is believed he will enact the bill to become law!

The law on the books defined a “vicious dog” as one that, without provocation, had seriously injured a person, killed another dog, or is at all a Pit Bull.

“Such a designation triggers additional liability insurance, restraint, and other requirements and increases the chances that a pit bull could be euthanized if picked up on the street.”

Now the burden of proof lays on the local Warden in action taken against any dog.

HB 14 creates a new classification of “nuisance” and enables owners to appeal their dog’s classification.

Needless to say this is a HUGE WIN for Pit Bull dogs, owners and enthusiasts. Ohio had been the BSL(breed-specific-legislation) mecca of the world, lending credibility to other towns, cities and countries looking to ban the American Pit Bull Terrier.

Thanks to people like you the HB 14 Ohio Pit Bull ban is dropped!

The movement to educate the public on the Pit Bull’s true loving nature and the Pit Bull problem’s root cause has hit record heights.

We at TheBullyBreedBlog.com believe dogs should be judged based on their actions and not by their looks.

Still there are some Ohio Lawmakers who opposed dropping the HB 14 Ohio Pit Bull Ban;

A former Dog Warden in Ohio, Tom Skeldon had played a critical part in passing the original Ohio Pit Bull ban back in 1987. He said that dropping the ban was “absolutely ridiculous” calling it “a step backwards.” He also thought HB 14 “impossible to enforce. And that’s exactly what vicious dog owners want.”

The Warden also directed some personal attacks towards a man named John Robinson Block who is the publisher and editor-in-chief of a local newspaper The Toledo Blade that supported the common sense surrender of the HB 14 Ohio Pit Bull Ban, saying; “It was a very successful law. And now that law is gone largely because of your editor,” “It shows an amazing reach of power.”

I don’t consider myself a “vicious dog owner” and in my not so humble opinion this guy never should’ve been a Dog Warden in Ohio with scrambled-egg brains. If there are any vicious Pit Bull owners even following the case, I doubt they are smart enough to read.

This is the biggest win against the brainless breed-specific-legislation movement yet and extremely rewarding for me personally, as well as many other American Pit Bull Terrier and Bully Breed owners.

Lincoln’s Daily Diary Friday December 23, 2011

Lincoln is really starting to shine, this pup is the center of attention everywhere he goes and he makes no bones about loving every second of it.

Today at the shop he greeted everyone who came in and even made some great new friends, people who otherwise wouldn’t have dared come near a mean Pit Bull had they known the little devil was waiting for them! The nice ladies got their hair and nails done all fancy biding their time playing with Lincoln or trying to coax him out of his doggy bed and into their arms. Heck he even got daddy the attention of some really cute girlies today but that is just icing on the cake!
Lincoln slept a lot at the shop but he was sure to get up when the door opened for a new customer!

After work we came home and hung out, getting some much needed rest for daddy.

We got some rest and I began teaching my puppy to leave it; where I put a treat on the ground in front of Lincoln the Pit Bull yet I don’t allow him to get to it. I keep my hand over the treat until Lincoln stops pawing at it.

As soon as he backs off the treat I click the clicker and allow him to have the treat saying “Good leave it”. We did that a few times and then ended the training session on a great “Come>Sit>Paw”!

I teach this command because it will help me to make sure Lincoln doesn’t get into things that are bad for him or not meant for his chewing pleasures! It comes in handy all the time so it is a great tool to have at my disposal. I got to say this pup comes from great stock because I have never seen a dog learn as quickly as he is, I am really lucky to have him.

Subscribe to our dog training newsletter(It is in the top right column of this page!) and I’ll show you exactly how to train your dog to do what Lincoln the Pit Bull does, like teaching my puppy to leave it!

Lincoln’s Daily Diary, Thursday December 22 2011

I will tell you what, this was probably Lincoln the Pit Bull’s most pawriffic day yet!

Finally Lincoln my PitBull puppy went down stairs!

First the Pit Bull finally managed to drum up the courage to go DOWN the entire flight of stairs from my apartment. He was a bit reluctant at first and then he hit the first step and took it nice and easy, one at a time all 18 of em! He got to the bottom and we celebrated for a couple minutes, his tail wagging and head high, he was well aware of the beast he conquered! Those stairs weren’t going to keep my Pit Bull down, or up, for long!

AND my PitBull puppy walked on the leash for the first time ever!

THEN, when we went outside in the A.M. before daddy went to work, Lincoln the Pit Bull walked on the leash! He has been on the leash before a lot but only to go potty but today he was going for the gold! Heck, he didn’t just walk on the leash the boy trotted briskly! hahah
I had to pull him a couple feet, and finally he must’ve realized that resistance was futile and just started strutting along. I believe he was pleasantly surprised to see how much fun it was to walk next to Daddy and go down the street to see all the other houses and people! He almost got ahead of me a couple times!

I am so proud of this little guy! He is giving it his best shot all day every day and I just hope I am up to the challenge and can do right by him. The potential this pup has is beyond recognition and he surprises me every single day. What new life he has breathed into my lungs!

Lincoln the Pit Bull’s Daily Diary, Wednesday December 21, 2011

Today was Lincoln the Pit Bull’s first real big-boy day! Daddy had to work and there was nobody around who could watch him.

Thankfully the puppy crate training tips have worked like a charm and the pup can stay in the crate overnight too.

My shift was 5 hours long so I devised a plan;
I would tire Lincoln out before work and make sure he was ‘empty’!
I would go to work with the pup crated and come back after 2 hours to let him out and run him around for an hour.
I would go back to work and finish my shift before coming home for good.
The plan went off without a hitch! Even better was that Pop-Pop came home early and picked Lincoln up to play with Coco a bit before I got home.
He was great and managed very well in his crate, a big boy indeed!

Puppy Crate Training Tips

For other dog or Pit Bull owners, when it comes to crate training your dog you have to stick to the plan and it will pay off!

NEVER use the crate to punish your dog, it should be a positive place!

Make sure you crate your dog until you know he/she can hold it at least through the night before you begin to let them sleep outside of it.

Also you want to make sure the dog is never whining or crying when you open the door to let them out otherwise you are teaching the dog to whine if it wants out!

When you put the dog in the crate, make sure to give it some treats so the crate is seen as more of a positive thing.

And when you let your dog out make sure not to make a big fuss about it, it’s no big deal.

If your puppies whining when inside the crate, ignore it and wait for the dog to become silent and let him out immediately. This teaches him silence gets him out of the crate.
